The Department of Education Sciences of the European University Cyprus organised an international interdisciplinary conference which aimed to bring together researchers from a variety of fields (such as intercultural education, inclusion, sociolinguistics, linguistic ethnography/anthropology, peace education, educational policy, etc.) who shared a concern for social justice and a vision to break the silence and eliminate discrimination in our schools.The International Conference was entitled "Breaking Classroom Silences: addressing sensitive issues in education" and it was held at the premises of the European University Cyprus on Friday 11th of October until Saturday 12th of October, 2013. The conference was attended by approximately 100 people from Cyprus, Greece, Israel, UK, Sweden, Finland, Austria, and the Netherlands.
During the conference, on Saturday 12th of October 2013, a Symposium on the SEDRIN and TERNO Projects was presented as part of the Conference. The symposium presented part of the findings of the two funded project with the support of the European Commission, represented by the Education and Culture DG, within the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme; namely “School Education for Roma Integration” (SEDRIN 527611-LLP-2012-GR-COMENIUS-CMP Comenius Multilateral Projects) and “Teachers' Education for Roma New Opportunities in School” (TERNO 531091-LLP-1-2012-1-GR-KA1-KA1MPR).

The presentation and the presentation of the two projects raised awareness for the project inside the scientific community that attended the conference, as well as the local scientific community, and contacts were made with important stakeholders that could be able to implement the SEDRIN and TERNO methodology in Cyprus.

In 27,28,29 of June 2013 was held the second Meeting for the Terno Project. In the first day in Jakobinus hall, MTA Institute of Sociology we discussed about the Research of the project:Attending the educational needs of Roma children(Comparative analysis) prepared by Róza Vajda and the Institute for Sociological Resarch, Hungarian Academy of Sciences where you can read here and we reviewed the work programme from the Meeting in Athens. Finally each partner made a Presentation of the Progress in Each country (schools selected, teachers identified, administrative preparations, children target groups,dissemination etc.). The following days we moved to the beautiful Roma Parliament where it was held the Teacher’s training: Psychological tools and pedagogical methods supporting the education of Roma children .
